I was going to take it to the shop today because i had a mild crash and damaged the rear bumper and the tail light a few weeks ago.
The car didn't start but i think the problem is the battery. Previous days i have heard the engine was taking longer to turn on, but i thought it was because of the cold mornings.
So, any cheap but reliable battery suggestions oppo has?

Also, where does the battery have the date of manufacture, i suppose its from 2008. (i wasn't the first owner)

There is probably a sticker on the battery somewhere with the date on it, or a sticker date grid with holes punched out.

I've actually had great success with Duralast Gold (only Gold!) batteries. I've had 5 of them and they all took quite a beating in the cars they were in. Never failed on me. They are made by Johnson Controls. So are Costco's Kirkland batteries.

As a tip, get a ziplock baggie for warranty receipts and put the papers in there. Throw it in your glove box. Just in case!

ahh, that engine in that bay tripped me up. I know the GTs route the intake on the other side of the bay.

Thats what i just read on internet about the date, and some came with those marks you say but on the side of it, maybe i need to take it out in order to see.

As for the batteries, thats a good option, as johnson controls also makes optima batteries so they must work fine.

well, the GTs have it on the same side too. And so is the GT500, but it comes all the way from the back of the engine.

Well, it's important to remember that the manufacturer has to build to spec. Just because it's made by the same company doesn't mean it's the same quality.

But the Duralast batteries seem to have a good rep aside from my experience.

I could have sworn the GTs had the intake on the other side. Maybe I'm thinking of the New Edge.

If i had the money i would upgrade to a GT. The V6 is fine except for the T5. Its too slow to mesh gears. Doing rev match and everything.

The autos. I dont have a local drag strip, but mine definitely improved throttle response specially in low revs with a CAI and a tune. The picture is older than when i installed it. I have a mess of pictures, so i couldn't find a recent.

Since you mention the rear end damage, any chance you set off a collision sensor? I know some fox bodies have one that trips a fuel shut-off in front of the driver's side rear light, but I'm not familiar with the later mustangs. Usually they have a button or something on them to reset.

I dont know, but i could use the car some days before. Ill first check if its the battery, end then if it isn't this could be the problem.

Funny enough, my 2008 car wouldn't start today due to it's battery being toast lol. 2008 Cobalt though. It was also taking a bit longer to start the last couple days, but just figured it was the cold.

Johnson Controls (Duralast, Interstate, Everstart, even Optima now, since 09 at least) batteries are meh out here in Arizona, or any other hot climate. They are all Hecho en Mexico now, and the lead and construction is pretty subpar.

I used to work at a store that only sold batteries (well light bulbs now too I guess, but that's another tirade.) and we'd see Optimas mfgd after 2009 come in usually after only about 2 years dead as a rock, even though they are sold with 5 year warranties. It's a shame too, the US made ones, pre 2009, and as old as 2004, I've seen still kicking 80-90% of their rated CCA.

But Optimas are the big let down out of Johnson's line up due to the cost that you're paying with the name and AGM construction, it's not so bad with the normal lead acid options.

Iirc, Duralast Gold had a 3 year in full replacement warranty right? It's not that bad of a deal, if that's all you can find, but I recommend something made by Deka / East-Penn which is normally sold under the Duracell Gold brand if you want something made stateside and is a little bit more reliable.

Though it varies by application, climate and ect, there's not much out there other than AGM (but I still wouldn't recommend Optima) that can last more than about three years here in the valley of the sun.
